The Homosexual Law Reform Bill was passed on July 9th 1986. At this time ACC had been running for only five years. We celebrated the 20th Anniversary of this significant law change on our service of July 9th 2006, which was addressed by Labour MP Tim Barnett amongst others. Attendance was approximately 80 people.

In the past 25 years since the passing of the homosexual law reform legislation we have all grown and matured in our appreciation of each other.
We now have an Archbishop of Canterbury who writes 'It is imperative to give the strongest support to the defence of homosexual people against violence, bigotry and legal disadvantage, to appreciate the role played in the life of the church by people of homosexual orientation.
It is time now to move beyond merely offering support to a positive welcome and acceptance of the gifts that gay and lesbian people have to offer the church as a whole. This is a struggle that will continue and I am sure it will not be easy. The Community Church really is a beacon of hope. Congratulations on what you do in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
